What is the Body Mass Index (BMI)?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person's height & weight. BMI provides a dependable indicator of body fatness for most people and is used to display for weight category that may lead to health problems.
What is the perfect body mass index?
If you're Body Mass Index BMI is:
Under 18.5 = you are very underweight and probably malnourished.
18.5 to 24.9 = you have a healthy weight range for young and middle-aged adults.
25.0 to 29.9 = you are Overweight.



Body Mass Index (BMI)
BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater


What is a good body mass index (BMI)?
A BMI below 18.5 is considered underweight. A body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered healthy. A body mass index (BMI) of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight. A BMI of 30 or higher is measured obese.

How do you work out your body mass index (BMI)?
To work out your BMI:
Divide your weight in kilograms (kg) by your height in centimeters then divide the answer by your height again to get your body mass index (BMI).
